Replacing glass and double glazed sealed units in existing frames

There can be a number of reasons for a sealed unit to fail, or break down. It may not be glazed correctly i.e. not using glazing blocks or the correct glazing materials (see glazing recommendations to timber frames), or there mabey insufficient drainage causing water to be trapped against the edge seal of the unit.

A sealed unit break down means that moisture has penetrated the edge seal of the unit. Usually this is seen as mist or condensation on the inside of the unit, fortunately, in most cases a broken down unit can be replaced quite easily without having to replace the whole frame.

Our units are manufactured to BS5713 standards and vary from 14mm thick to 28mm thick to suit just about any frame type.

Extreme case of a sealed unit broken down

If you have a broken or damaged pane of glass in your window or door, give us a call and we will quickly send one of our glaziers.

Because we manufacture our own sealed units and have a large stock of glass, we can often replace the glass or sealed unit the same or next day.
