Safety Glazing Regulations. BS 6206

The British Standard Safety Glazing Regulations aim to protect people from the 'danger' areas of glass, and require all glass to be supplied and fitted to their exact specifications as outlined on this page.
All glass fitted is expected to be done according to these specifications, and glass is only supplied by ourselves assuming the end product will be glazed accordingly to this.

British Safety Regulations diagram

The areas of internal and external wall glazing which are considered critical in terms of glass safety by the British Standard Regulations are shaded as above i.e:

  • Between the floor level and 1500mm above that level in doors and side panels which are within 300mm of either edge of the door.
  • Between the floor level and 800mm above that level in walls, partitions and windows.

It should be noted that any part of the glass area affected must meet BS6206 in its entirety, and not just the relevant part of the panel.
