Guarantees:

White Profiles:
10 years with respect to colour stability, shape retention, impact strength retention and resistance against attack from salt laden atmosphere, cement mortars and certain other materials used in house construction.

Woodgrain on Brown Profiles:
5 years with respect to adhesion of laminate, shape retention and impact strength retention.

Double glazed sealed units:
5 years with respect to edge seal adhesion to the glass*.
Failure of adhesion causes moisture to contaminate the air space, in effect causing the unit to 'break down'.

*Units need to be glazed according to our 'Glazing Conditions' and to suitable frames. Improper glazing or glazing materials will invalidate the guarantee.

British and European Standards:

PVCu Profile etc:
The PVCu profile, associated gaskets and accessories including processing by plastic woodgrain lamination and profile cutting are registered to the following standards:
BS EN ISO 9002
EN ISO 9002
ISO 9002

Selecta products (i.e. profile and hardware) are also BS EN 10142 & 10143 approved.

Double glazed sealed units:
Double glazed sealed units have been tested to BS 5713 standards.

Tests and results:
Taken from the British Board of Agrement Assessment Report No. 1482:

Security against intrusion:
With espagnolette locking, the design of the rebate is such that engagement of a thin blade with just one locking point it would be extremely difficult, and even if accomplished would not allow disengagement of the locking mechanism (RedKite use Muli-Locking Points on all casements).

The use of locking handles prevent the casement being opened even after glass breakage (We use lockable handles in all of our casements).

Removal of glass without breakage and noise is virtually impossible because of the double-sided security glazing tape (Security tape is standard in all of our windows).

Durability:

PVUu profiles:
Tests carried out against outer frame and bead where successful for shrinkage on heating and UV-aging did not show the eneven staining effect and were satisfactory.

Reinforcement profiles:
Profile reinforcement is of a galvanized steel with a G275N coating to BS EN 10142. Drainage configuration ensures that no water will enter reinforcement chambers.

Gaskets and weather strips:
Gaskets and weather strips are extruded from Evoprene TPR 087 which have good resistance to compression set and to degradation by normal atmosheric agencies such as ultraviolet light.

Espagnolette locks and handles:
Espangnolette locks are produced from mild steel with passivated electroplated zinc coating. Espangnolette handles are manufactured from die-cast zinc alloy type A to BS 1004. Durable material further protected with a polyester powder coating (or electroplated finish) for decorative and corrosion resistance. Tests show that the locks and handles are sufficiently robust within normal operating stresses and withstand a reasonable degree of abuse within the lifetime of the window.

Friction stays (hinges):
The friction stays are manufactured from Grade 430 stainless steel. This grade of steel has been successfully used in building applications involving exposure to more aggressive conditions than those associated with window stays. Tests carried out show that these friction stays are sufficiently robust within normal operating stresses and withstand a reasonable degree of abuse within the lifetime of the window.
